Hardie and Drywall and Insulation...Oh My!

The porch and all the hardie is done....it looks awesome! Here is the drywall in the 4 Seasons Room.

Here is the insulation in one of the basement bedrooms. Here is the insulation before they have trimmed it. This is Joe's workroom in the basement. Very cool!!!

The Hardie is done on the house. I like it, but can't wait for the stone to go up to give it more color.

Bought some furniture last week....The iron bed is for Claudia's room. It will actually be in bronze. The dining room furniture is pine with a dark finish and the bedroom is cherry with cedar drawers. I am so excited with the idea of someday eating at a REAL table and not on the floor at a coffee table.

Hardi Goes On....

The James Hardi board is going up. It is pretty cool. It looks like wood, but it is made out of cement. It is fire resistant (like brick) and energy efficient. The only thing is....JOE will have to paint it every so many years!!!!

The Behne Build

The Behne Dream House.....

Well....we are getting closer and closer to finishing our house. It has been a very long road. Here is a timeline of this adventure...

July 2006---Purchase 2.5 acres in Wynbrooke Estates and decide to build a house. Falcon Drive House goes on the market.

July 2007---Have an offer on Falcon Drive House, closing in three weeks, lease apartment at Steeplechase

July 2007---Offer falls through, decide to stay at Steeplechase while trying to sell Falcon Drive House

August 2007---Have an offer on Falcon Drive House, but it is contingent on their house selling, we decide to take it and let them rent

July 2008---Finally close on Falcon Drive House

August 2008---Economy declines, Behne's decide to wait on house

August 2009---We decide to go for it....excavating begins!!!

October 2009---Framing begins...it is fun to walk around in rooms bigger than our 900 square foot apartment!!

November 2009---Roof goes on...

January 2010---plumbing, electrical....

and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
